ISRAEL ATTACKS IRAN
Just when you thought you had witnessed some of the most brazen and innovative attacks in military history as was seen with the pager attack on Iranian proxy Hezbollah, Israel has struck again, this time deep inside Iran.
On June 13th the world was watching riots in Los Angeles, a tragic Indian plane disaster, and a special 250th anniversary Army parade in Washington DC in the USA. In Israel, they were preparing for an event that would strike a deep wound upon their formidable enemy Iran, and their nuclear aspirations that has kept Israel and the world on edge since the 1979 Iranian revolution that brought an anti western idealogical islamist regime to power. A regime determined to destroy Israel, the USA and all those who espouse zionist and/or western values.

OPERATION “RISING LION”
Operation “Rising Lion” targeted Irans nuclear facilities and the military leaders and scientists behind the nuclear program.
Israels historic attack on Iran named Operation “Rising Lion” initially focused on destroying the main enrichment facilities in Natanz, south of Irans capital Tehran along with other nuclear sites. In addition, and following what must have been a long covert intelligence infiltration by Israels Mossad, drones that had been secretly brought into the country were mobilised to target several key military leaders and around 9 nuclear scientists and experts involved in the oversight of Irans nuclear program.
Following precision strikes on Irans radar systems, and surface to air missile sites, Israel achieved significant freedom to fly without sustained arial threat throughout Iranian airspace. The Israeli airforce continues to destroy military and civil infrastructure as Iran subsequently responds with attacks on Israel’s civilian population.

MISSILES FROM IRAN HIT ISRAEL
Around 20 killed and over 400 Israelis injured from missile attacks from Iran
Soon after Israel struck Iran, around 200 missiles and drones were fired at Israel with the majority getting shot down or intercepted by Israel’s capable missile defence systems. Sadly however, some missiles have penetrated the defence systems and hit civilian homes and apartments in and around Tel Aviv and Haifa to the north.
Reports at the time of writing have said that around 20 Israelis have been killed and over 400 injured, with widespread damage where the missiles hit. These missile attacks are ongoing and continue to force all Israelis to take cover in their protective shelters throughout the country. Thankfully, Israel is well equipped with bomb shelters, although most of these are designed for protection from debris of intercepted missiles as opposed to a direct hit from a live warhead. It highlights the fact that all the bomb shelters in Israel are of significant help during such times, of which many have been provided by the christian community through organisations such as FOI. Right now Israel remains in a time of monumental uncertainty.
ISRAEL IS SENT TO BOMB SHELTERS
As missiles are intercepted above the skies of Israel, millions of Israelis are forced into shelters for protection from falling debris. But occasionally some missiles get through causing death and destruction.
ONGOING UNCERTAINTY
Israel currently has strong support from the United States. The US and Great Britain have sent military resources to the region to deter Iran and other Islamic nations from escalating tensions. However, there is still significant uncertainty about whether a quick solution can be reached or if the conflict will spread further in the Middle East. Israel has made its goals clear: to eliminate Iran's nuclear program and the threat Iran poses. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has urged the Iranian people to help change their regime, stating that “this fight is not against the people of Iran” and encouraging them to “seize the opportunity for regime change.”
GOD IS AT WORK
What Israel is doing today in Iran is truly a blessing to the wider world. By attacking Iran who has continuously destabilised the middle east through it’s proxy terror organisations in Lebanon, Gaza, Syria, Yemen, Iraq and other places, Israel and the world will be safer. As a result, there is relative widespread support for Israel from other western nations even from Europe.
It is difficult to know where this conflict will end up as the variables are too great to predict. But God remains committed to His faithful plans described in the Bible that will see the ultimate salvation of Israel. We also know that the Bible predicts a war in Ezekiel 38-39 that many speculate as to the timing. Could the outcomes from this war further cement the relationships between the nations named in Ezekiel 38 that will one day attack Israel? Whatever the outcome, we know God is sovereignly in control of the events being shaped in this latest round of conflict.
PRAY FOR ISRAEL AND IRAN
For Israel as a nation in the face of ongoing threats and incursions by Iran.
For the military in Israel to have success in all their operations. For wisdom among political, military and civil leaders making decisions that impact Israel and the whole world.
For believers in Israel as they minister to those around them, some alongside in battle, others in protective shelters. Pray that their witness will be evident as they face this difficult time.
For the Iranian people to be released from the tyrannical regime: for many to be willing to stand up and make a difference at this historic moment.
Whether Jew or Gentile, may many find peace through faith in Jesus Christ.
