JORDAN DORR

MINISTRY INTERN (QLD)

G'day, Yom Tov! My name is Jordan, and I am the new intern for FOI Australia.

How did I end up here as an intern? Well having recently lived and served in Israel played a key role. As it turns out though, God has been planting seeds in my life along the way that would come to fruition in the form of being involved in ministry to the Jewish people and The Church regarding Israel.

I grew up in southeast Queensland on a farm in an area called Mount Sylvia, about an hour-and-a-half drive from Brisbane. I grew up helping on the farm and in my free-time doing country-kid things such as riding dirt bikes, swimming in creeks, playing sport - all of which I still enjoy doing today. I gave my life to Jesus when I was about five years old after hearing at Church one Sunday that I needed to accept Jesus into my heart in order to be saved. A couple years later an older couple who went on a Holy Land tour and shared photos and stories of the trip with our church. At that point, only probably about eight years old, I decided that one day I want to go and see Israel, the land of the Bible for myself.

In early 2023, after being in the civil engineering industry for about nine years I was desperate for a change. Though I had achieved a considerable amount of things in life by that point, I felt I had no sense of purpose. Then one day a friend of mine who had served in Israel suggested that I and some mutual friends go to Israel on a young adults tour. Looking for a more long-term change, I thought "well, why don't I apply for the full 11-month discipleship program they are offering…" I said to God "Lord, if I get accepted, I will go". And go I did.

Four weeks after I arrived in Israel for the first time, the attack of October 7th happened. That was a life-changing day. That among events such as the April 14 Iran attack of 2023, the 12-Day war in June 2025, various other attacks from Hezbollah, the Houthis and ground attacks in Jerusalem. Just living amongst and serving the Jewish people in Israel for almost two years in general was all life-changing and a true honour. Through that time God washed away many of the anxieties I previously had about life and fear of man and brought me much closer to the plan He has for my life.

Now, I am an intern for Friends of Israel Australia and I am excited for all that God is going to do in this next 12 months as I learn and get involved in ministry with FOI.
